Can depression lead to a social phobia and/or anxiety disorder?

I have always been a shy person, but lately I have been feeling even more uncomfortable around people; in some cases, good friends or family that I haven’t seen in a while. I recently took one of those online depression tests, and it said I could have clinical depression. My question is, can depression lead to some form of social anxiety disorder?

What should I do about this depression?

For awhile now I’ve been depressed. I tried talking to a pshycologist about it, but I hated it, and I tried writing about it all but that did nothing for me. I’ve taken a few online depression tests and they all say I’m severely depressed. I don’t want to talk to like a professional about it, I just wanna feel happy again. Should I call my doctor about anti depressants? I don’t know… PLEASE tell me what I should do.

what i should say in a depression test?

I have had this kinda crazy idea to get out of this tenancy agreement that i’m bound to at present, and thought it would help my case if i had depression. I was wondering if anyone had any advice as to how i would convince the psychiatrist/gp that i have depression, as i’m sure he’ll ask me a lot of questions. Any advice?

I need to know if my ups and downs are a sort of depression ? Medication ?

I have ups and downs for a few years now. The ups are normal happy moods (nothing exxagerated) but just being myself. The downs are black and sad thoughts, a feeling of the blues but a bit intense at times - incoporated with general anxiety.

The online self assessment depression tests always turn out - that I have mild to none. Second opinion please ?

What would a school counselor do if a student scores REALLY high on one of those "depression tests"?

I’ve been seeing this counselor for a while now and last session she mentioned something about me having "depressive symptoms". Anyway in todays session she gave me one of those, depression/anxiety tests where you circle 0-3 to how much each statement applies to you.

I scored REALLY highly on that test. Like WAY up there. Except it is exam week at my school for my grade at the moment. So… when she calculated my score she looked at it and said, "Perhaps we’ll do another one after exams… yeh it wouldn’t be helpful to map this on the graph" ‘Cause if she did she knew it would have stressed me out to see how high everything was!!

Then on the official score sheet she mumbled something as she was writing to herself that was like, "outside followup/referrals not required at this point" THEN she began talking to me about how antidepressant medication wasn’t used for under 18s.

ANYWAY my question is.. I’m pretty sure that even after exams most of my answers will be the same, giving me the same result. Just wondering what she is most likely to do then. Cause I’m slightly paranoid at this point!!

I’M NEVER HUNGRY ANYMORE, IS THIS NORMAL!?

Hi, I’m an 18 year old male, 5′8 tall, 154.8 pounds (when I checked today) *not a professional scale, just a home digital one*

I went to the Gastroenterologist last march (that just passed) and I was weighed, 170 pounds. The doctor told me to try to lose weight because I had acid reflux (took Nexium 20mg). These last few months I’ve been VERY stressed and suffered from anxiety/depression and stopped eating as much (I never really ate breakfast in the morning ever). This august that just passed, I went back to the doctor and when I was weighed I was 156 pounds. He said the average for my age and weight is 140 pounds, but my mom got all worried because I dropped like 14 pounds. That same day, my doctor scheduled an endoscopy which I had done a couple of weeks ago and EVERYTHING came back fine (biopsies too), I just have a mild and very common hiatal hernia which the doctor said is no worry at all and to forget I even had it because it’s so small and common and can’t get any worse, he even said to wean off nexium because I no longer need it.

I’m trying to start eating more like I use to but I’m never hungry anymore like I use to be. I even had my heart checked by a cardiologist and all the tests came back 100%

So I’m healthy when it comes to all of that, and I’m just starting to get over this anxiety/depression. How do I get myself back to being hungry??? According to my doctor, my weight is fine, but my mom gets all freaked out like I’m sick or something and it makes me think there’s something wrong with me..
I also use to drink pepsi all the time and I stopped drinking it almost completely, I’ll have it once in a while, I only really drink water now. So this can be another reason for weight loss.

Anyone else not been to work due to sickness?

I have been off work since the middle of January, as I am having some health issues.
I was waiting for the NHS, but in the end had to go private, which cost me £2000, and I still have to go back for further tests.

I am getting really fed up and depression is setting in bigtime.

Anyone else been off work sick for awhile and feeling down ?
