Recently while on Paxil I’ve be twiching alot lately. It only happens when I get stressed. Alot of people have been noticing it and I’m worried that it might be a part of a side effect. Are there any other non-stimulant medications for anxiety and depression?
As a person with a mental illness that has been diagnosed for over twenty years, I can safely say that you need to see your physician. I’ve never known it to cause "twitching" as a side effect. You may want to check into diabetes, and many people with this illness suffer depression due to high blood sugars and some do "twitch", "shake" under extreme stress.
I think that you should see a Psychiatrist that can explain to you what drugs are available and what side effects you "could" have. Paxil is a choice drug for those with extreme anxiety AND depression. The twitch you feel may be something he’s medicating, Paxil is good for Obsessive Compulsive disorders. If it is a side effect of a drug, many Psychiatrist’s believe if you are having side effects, then the medication IS working.
There are many new drugs, and by far, Paxil is not a stimulant kind of drug. You may be suffering insomnia as a side effect of the drug, and that may include twitching or jitteriness.
Please, by all means, consult your Paxil provider MD-PHD or MD-PSY. I wish you well and better control of your anxeity or stress. Medications can help, but won’t cure. I wish you all the best in you mental health needs. As someone whose played the "Pill" game, be patient with the meds and record your symptoms and rate each drug as to what your quality of life is, so that when you are introduced to a new drug you have a means by which to compare. For me, Paxil is a wonder drug for my obsessive thoughts and depression, but it screws up my sex life. You just have to weigh out pro’s and con’s. All my best for you, and here’s to hoping you have better days ahead! Take care of yourself!
Yes. See http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris on pages 2 (view the antidepressant websites: many are prescribed to treat anxiety as well), and 6, and consult your primary mental health provider to switch, if determined to attempt to solve your problems by popping pills.
