In the DSMV book, under the diagnostic criteria for Major Depression Dissorder, it says that if a person has symptoms that are mood incongruant, that are the effect of psychosis (rather than depression), which are symptoms of both MDD and other psychotic dissorders, the symptoms should not be considered toward a diagnosis of MDD, but the psychotic disorder. So, what if the symptoms are from a mood congruant psychosis? Could it be considered a symptom of Major Depression, then? What is a mood congruant vs. a mood incongruant psychosis?
