I have had the same doctor for several years but have never talked with her about this. My psych. recommended I talk with my dr about my new diagnosis. What happens in a visit like that?

A psychologist can diagnose your problems like depression, but they are not able to prescribe medication for it. Your main doctor or a psychiatrist will have to do that. My main doctor takes care of my medication because he has studied depression, other wise I would have to go back to a psychiatrist that knows how to deal with it. Your main doctor may have you consult a psychiatrist to get yours if he or she has any doubt about what to prescribe for you.
