Depression Go Depression Treatment. Symptoms. Medication. Diagnosis. Causes. Risk Factors.

I am a 29 year old male with symptoms as above. Any ideas what could be happening? Have seen Doc but they are just giving me pills to treat depression and I don’t want to have to take these indefinitely.

Im looking for women with personal experience preferably.. or someone who knows a lot about it. I got the depo shot at the end of Jan. I was one of the unfortunate women to experience my period for 3 months, moodiness, depression, and severe hair loss. I’m not getting my 2nd shot which is due this week. I’m wondering how long before these symptoms should stop? Especially the period and hair loss? Thank you!

I can’t talk to my doc until tomorrow, but I was wondering, is this a lasting side effect? What did you or your doctor do to alleviate it?
I may have had a mild mental depression before, but this is beginning to show symptom of severe depression.

I didn’t have a period for over a year untill just recently but it was very light. I have most of the symptoms could this be the cause of depression?

I have had my IUD almost 8 months and my periods have stopped, I haven’t seemed to have any other symptoms, but I’ve been suffering from depression and I wanted to know, if anyone else suffered from depression because of mirena and if they had it taken out, did it help?

When i study about DEPRESSION, what actually occure in patient is the low level of serotonine and dopamine neurotransmitters and they have LOW brain activity, so the way the patient should be treated is to be given by ANTI-DEPRESSANTS or stimulants like Tricyclic, Heterocyclic, SSRI or MAO inhibitor to increase the brain activity.

While for ANXIETY, because of the INCREASING of the adrenergic neurotransmitters and brain activity, we should give the patient the GABA-ergic drugs so it can INHIBIT the hyperactivity of the human brain.
But a lot of phycisian out there conclude that both of them as the same group disorder while the drugs patient should use are totally different.
Why they make it as two similar disorder, while i think they are very DIFFERENT? (Help this desperate medical student soon…

I don’t feel hopeless, or want to die. I haven’t had a lack of interest in things I love. Everyday I find things to be thankful for. I do LOVE my life, I’m going to school finally which I have been wanting to do, My kids are healthy and happy, and for the most part my husband and I have been doing REALLY well this year, its been a very happy year for our relationship, with that being said here is a little history:

Self-medicating with pharmaceuticals (opiates and stimulants) and marijuana and alcohol and other drugs (junkhead) for almost 10 years. Sober now for a little over 1
3 years ago very close friend (like a brother to my family) died @ age 23
Last summer even closer friend (like a brother to us and uncle to our kids) got hit by lightning along with another friend and both passed away
In the last 3 years my grandfather and my husbands grandmother passed
I know this sounds silly, but my cat whom I loved dearly and was a part of the family just went missing 3 months ago, and I haven’t cried or grieved but it still hurts…
My best friend had a miscarriage that really hit me hard and I was very emotional about(last summer)

Now I find myself crying almost everyday, weather it be due to a song on the radio, a movie I watched, animal cops on animal planet, watching the news about the Holocaust going on in Gaza…
And I have obsessions of fear of infectious disease or I’ll start crying thinking about my mother and father dying, or my kids, or my husband. I haven’t developed any compulsions to deal with these fears, so I wouldn’t consider myself OCD, but I have had panic attacks.

If I were to self diagnose I would say I have symptoms of Obsession/Anxiety and PTSD, and some depression but like I said Im not hopeless I don’t want to die and I dont have any eating disorders….

I know I should talk to a doctor, and I plan to, but I was wondering if anyone would share their personal stories and ways they cope with grief, because its just piling up and getting so heavy on my shoulders

I’m an 18yr. old female-i went to the doctor today to see if they could help me with my depression, anxiety and ADD.. (i’ve been diagnosed with all 3) . I have never taken any medication for any of these, and wanted to have an open mind about finding a medication that can work for me.
My doctor prescribed me Cymbalta.. 30mg/day for the first week, then up the dosage to 60mg/day.
She said that once we got my depression and anxiety taken care of, she was going to put me on medication for my ADD. (mainly not being able to focus, daydreaming, very hard time studying or keeping organized).. but i feel like i need something more for that, than my depression.
I have heard very good things come from people i know with ADD and that have anxiety who have taken Adderall, but my doctor said she doesn’t like to prescribe stimulants right away.. basically, i’m scarred to take Cymbalta. I haven’t read very good things about it. Any advice would be great!(also wondering if it makes u tired?)

I am currently on Wellbutrin for depression. All anti depressants seem to work for about a month or 2, and then the effects wan. My mom told me a few days ago that I had ADHD pretty bad when I was a child. I had the really bad kind, where I was cruel to animals and destructive to property and such. My parents never treated me, so I truly believe that I have Adult ADHD and since it went untreated, I now have Major Depressive Disorder as a co-morbid condition. I think that the antidepressant meds are indeed working, and its not the depression thats coming back, its the ADHD symptoms that I am confusing with depression. I dont want to go off the Wellbutrin, I was just wondering what meds that they would most likely prescribe in addition to Wellbutrin to treat the ADHD? Straterra is scary to me because I have a very sensitive stomach as is, and It works kind of like an antidepressant from what I have heard. Are stimulant meds the way to go?

I have been taking adderall for about 4 years now and have also been battling with depression as well. My doctor has recently put me on Lexapro, and I feel like crap. All the other antidepressants react with adderall, so i do not have many choices. Anyone else experience bad side effects from a combination of a stimulant and antidepressant? Does it get any better? Any clue on what this is all doing to my poor brain???
